Welcome to the Green Terror Garden! McDaniel College’s Own Pickle and Pollinator Patch

Featured

The Green Terror Garden emerged from the sweeping initiative of student operated farms on college campuses finally reaching McDaniel College. The foundation of the garden was set as students from Dr. Elly Engle’s Sustainable Agriculture Class rejuvenated the previously established and neglected campus garden bed through sustainable and organic practices. The exact history of creation of the garden is unknown.

Mission Statement and Project Goals

Currently the Green Terror Garden houses several different crops and a variety of flowers designed to offer experiential learning opportunities for all interested students on the Hill. In addition to learning opportunities, goals include transforming the area to be a McDaniel community gathering place, partnering with local organizations such as the Boys and Girls club of Westminster, and The Keep and Till. Additionally, the project aims to establish a farmers market on campus and to incorporate crop yield with the college’s dining services. Ultimately, the garden is a foundation for establishing a student-operated farm that remains true with rooted restorative agricultural practices.
